Chain Selection |
|
Chain manufacturers produce high quality chains that can achieve greater mileage when using Chain Gang sprockets. Selecting the right chain requires consideration of the intended of the chain. Not only will the chain need to be strong enough for the bike but also need to match the rider and the use the chain will need to endure. For example a CR 125 and a XR 650 both use the same size chain. The CR 125 is a two stroke with a small engine and will cause far less wear on a chain than the XR, as well as most likely being used for motocross where a lightweight non o’ring is appropriate. The XR needs a stronger chain to cope with the extra power, and if used for enduro or off-road it will need to use a higher grade chain.
